Wrong house re-possessed by bank due to “bad GPS navigator.”
Homeowner Katie Barnett says her McArthur home was wrongly repossessed while she was away with her family last month.
The homeowner is asking for $18,000 compensation. The bank is asking for receipts.
This is ridiculous. Didn’t they think to confirm the address, usually printed on the mailbox or some other visible location?
I’m guessing any receipts they had were discarded as well. The bank should compensate the $18,000, a modest price considering the error. If the family’s important documents (passports, tax forms, etc) were also thrown away, they could be dealing with years of inconvenience, identify theft, etc.
