more NSA fallout

A US VPN service (CryptoSeal) folds its services for personal use (those for business use still operational).

NSA spied on Mexican government, likely to hurt ties between US and Mexico.

The French are upset as well, for what it’s worth.

The White House said the claims “raise legitimate questions”, seeking to ease French concerns.

The NSA has recently spied on 70.3m phone calls in France, it is claimed.

The article doesn’t indicate who is making the claim, above.

Note that, whenever a spokesperson says that something “raises legitimate questions,” it means that that person has no intention of answering those questions. The White House as well as the intell agencies are hoping these issues just go away; they want “business as usual” with regard to the globalized surveillance state.
